BEYOND THE GOLDEN HOUR / AZ ARANYÓRÁN TÚL

(EN) Some people flee the place they were born, feeling they can't grow there, while others, quite the opposite, stay in the same place their whole lives, able to grow only where their roots are. The first carry their personal stories like luggage, the others grow their stories together with their heavy roots.

All these people meet in a city - let's say Cluj, though not necessarily - a technologized, young, touristy, multicultural city with a good image, and the best image, photography specialists say, is captured during the golden hour, at sunrise or sunset, when the light is warm and soft. Beyond the gilding of the golden hour, what remains are the people and their stories, which connect to one another regardless of the language they speak. What happens once the warm, soft light disappears?

"I'm interested in people and communities. Lately, in my most recent shows, I've tried to capture their stories, to understand how someone relates to a group they don't belong to, or how a group relates to an individual outside it. What expectations do we have of one another, what questions do we ask, but above all, how do we get to the point of talking about a group's identity." (Ovidiu Caița - director)

"If I had to identify a narrative thread, it would be a love story, burdened, as in all kinds of fairy tales, by every sort of obstacle: stereotypes, fears, distrust, the language of communication, the past, etc., except that here, in our show, the magic horse is missing, and the road has to be travelled on foot." (HU) Vannak emberek, akik elmenekülnek onnan, ahol születtek, mert úgy érzik, hogy ott nem tudnak fejlődni, mások viszont egész életükben ugyanazon a helyen maradnak, mert csak ott tudnak fejlődni, ahol a gyökereik vannak. Az előbbiek úgy cipelik a történeteiket, mint nehéz poggyászt, az utóbbiak súlyos gyökereikkel együtt építik saját meséjüket.

Mindezek az emberek egy városban találkoznak, mondjuk Kolozsváron, de nem feltétlenül, egy technologizált, fiatal, turisztikai, multikulturális városban, amelyről jó kép alakult ki, és a fotóművészek szerint a legjobb képet az "arany órában", napfelkeltekor vagy napnyugtakor lehet készíteni, amikor a fény meleg és lágy. Az arany óra vakító fényén túl vannak azonban az emberek és az ő történeteik, amelyek összefonódnak, a beszélt nyelvtől függetlenül is. Mi történik, miután a lágy, meleg fény eltűnik?

"Az emberek és a közösségek érdekelnek. Az utóbbi időben, az utóbbi néhány előadásomban megpróbáltam megragadni a történeteiket, megérteni, hogyan viszonyul valaki egy olyan csoporthoz, amelyhez nem tartozik, vagy hogyan viszonyul egy csoport egy rajta kívül álló egyénhez. Milyen elvárásaink vannak egymással szemben, milyen kérdéseket teszünk fel, de ami még fontosabb, hogyan jutunk el oda, hogy egy csoportidentitásról beszéljünk." (Ovidiu Caița, rendező)

"Ha egy elbeszélői szálat kellene azonosítanom, akkor az egy szerelmi kapcsolat lenne, amelyet a mesékhez hasonlóan mindenféle akadályok nehezítenek: sztereotípiák, félelmek, bizalmatlanság, a nyelv, amin kommunikálnak, a múlt stb., csakhogy itt, a mi előadásunkban hiányzik a táltos ló, és az utat gyalog kell bejárni."
