The MiniTEXTE. Cuvinte de copii ("MiniTEXTS. Children's Words") project began with a question: what does the lockdown period mean for children, and how do they perceive all the changes going on around them?
If "normal life" used to mean a clear routine, mostly made up of going to school, being part of a group, extracurricular activities with other children, and a limited amount of time spent at home with family, how do children make sense of the abrupt changes of the past while?
Luckily for us, a great many talented children rushed to answer! Some chose to take refuge in fantastical stories, always with a happy ending, others decided to talk, in these hard times, about friendship and responsibility, and others centred everything around the idea of family and what "home" can still mean right now.
We found out that 2020 was a difficult year to manage not just for us, the adults. We often tend to overlook children's feelings about important events, telling ourselves that they "don't understand". Nothing could be further from the truth.
Choosing the 12 MiniTEXTE to be turned into video stories was no easy task for us. Unable to rank them by quality in any way, since they were all very good, we decided the most honest approach would be for each director on the project to choose the texts closest to their heart. So directors Delia Gavlițchi, Olivia Grecea and Raul Coldea, together with a large team of artists, helped the selected texts make the exciting journey from page to screen.
They can be watched on our YouTube channel, MiniREACTOR #teatru pentru copii.
