In an imagined near future, marked by the irreversible acceleration of global crises, a slow, unofficial cultural reform turns several theatres into hybrid research laboratories. The show's action takes place a few years later, in one of these converted spaces, when former performers come face to face with the unexpected effects of their own work. It's unclear whether another crisis is settling in within the space's defined perimeter, and what kind of response it calls for.
The show Orizontul evenimentelor ("The Event Horizon") is part of the series of events and processes held around Reactor de creație și experiment's 10th anniversary. As such, it is a site-specific show, with a number of its references and themes closely tied to this specific moment. The text was created from an idea by Mihai Păcurar and developed following a workshop exploring the human-nature-technology relationship together with the creative team. The text contains adapted insertions from Hamlet, Little Red Riding Hood and the Powerpuff Girls.
Show produced as part of the multi-year cultural programme "Metamorfic - collective processes", co-financed by the National Cultural Fund Administration.
