Get ready for a wonderful treat! This is a documentary puppet theatre show, beautifully crafted by a Russian artist and theatre maker currently working in Prague. Daria lovingly tells the story of a whimsical, mysterious house nestled under spruce trees on the outskirts of Moscow. From tender memories emerges a chilly kitchen made of window frames, steep red stairs, a singing stove (burzhujka), and the charming, eccentric residents of this magical place: a veteran of the war in Afghanistan, Dong and Jumbli, and other colorful neighbors of a world so close, yet so delightfully far away.
Originally created as an intimate show performed in a cozy domestic space, Moscow–Dachnoye has gone on to spread joy at numerous festivals and theatres in both the Czech Republic and abroad! In 2022, this lovely show was part of the Nová síť za Ukrajinu project, which wonderfully aims to bring artists and creations addressing current issues in Ukraine and Russia to audiences across the Czech Republic.
The incredibly talented Daria Gosteva is an artist and director with a special passion for object theatre and musical theatre. She graduated in scenography (BcA) and is currently completing her master's studies in dramaturgy and directing at the Department of Alternative and Puppet Theatre (KALD) at DAMU, Prague. She is also the proud co-founder of the vibrant Czech-German-Russian theatre ensemble KHWOSHCH! Since its creation in 2021, the ensemble has produced hit projects such as Dinopera, The Nutcracker. Vegetable Ballet, Heavy Theatre, and their latest production, Shakespearean Puppet Mass. They have delighted audiences at many festivals across the Czech Republic and Europe, including Malá inventura (Czech Republic), Skupova Plzeň (Czech Republic), Loutex (Czech Republic), At.tension (Germany), Fringify (Hamburg, Germany), Homo Novus (Riga, Latvia), FIMFA (Lisbon, Portugal), A Part Festival (Katowice, Poland), Microfestival (Dordrecht, Netherlands), Det Frie Felts Festival (Aarhus, Denmark), Passage Festival (Helsingør, Denmark), and many more!
