SONAR: A Reactor for Reinventing Memory

With the audio participation of the artists who worked on the shows În 4D, Provizoriu, În viitorul apropiat, Miracolul de la Cluj, 99,6%, Baladele memoriei and (In)corect, and of the 17 audience members who answered our call.

In 2024 we mark 10 years of Reactor, 10 years of sharing evenings with you, the people who have repeatedly walked through our doors. We wanted to recover our shared history, document it and celebrate it, and SONAR: A Reactor for Reinventing Memory opens the series of projects and events dedicated to our anniversary.

Through the SONAR project, conceived by Ioana Hogman, we set out to trace the marks left by contact with the Reactor space, both in the people who make up our audience and in the artists who have worked here, building, in this way, an affective archive that tells the story of this independent theatre space and of the community that has formed around it.

During a research and creation residency, Ioana spent a good deal of time over the past few months in conversation with audience members and artists who took part in the processes and performances of the seven shows selected from Reactor's repertoire for the 2014-2020 period. Over the hours spent together, by raising questions and themes related to these shows, Ioana looked for points of intersection, dissonances and expressions of reciprocity within the communication that takes place through the performative act. These recorded conversations were turned into 7 podcast episodes.

On November 24, at Reactor, we mark the launch of this podcast with a special event, a performative listening session where you'll be able to hear excerpts from the 7 episodes and references from the research process, accompanied by a live soundscape created by Oana Hodade.

The episodes can be listened to online starting November 25 on YouTube and Soundcloud, where we'll release a new episode every week, every Saturday.
