Our Stage Blog!

Reactor is thrilled to meet its audience in various cozy spots around the city as part of the exciting re.adapt project!

Six delightful artistic interventions will take center stage at the Casino Urban Culture Center, the 10×10 Installation on Eroilor Boulevard, Iulius Mall, Cinema Arta, and White Cuib.

re.adapt is the wonderful result of Reactor's dream to rethink its activities, staying lively and relevant during challenging times, while testing out fresh ways to connect with our lovely audience! Collaborating artists from the Reactor space were invited to playfully re-imagine shows from the Reactor and MiniREACTOR repertoires into engaging installations. You can visit all of them completely free of charge and in perfect safety, regardless of pandemic restrictions!

The installations will launch on consecutive days between May 5-9 and will remain in their cozy host spaces until May 20. For those who want to dive deeper into the stories, texts, and shows that inspired them, or simply want to enjoy the full, joyful experience of this city-wide artistic trail, our friendly Reactor and MiniREACTOR artists will be hosting delightful guided tours!

re.tărâmul (re.the realm)

interactive installation

Concept: Delia Gavlițchi & Florin Suciu

Text: Ana Cucu-Popescu

Music: Max Anchidin

This charming reimagining of the show "The Middle Realm" invites us to question our differences and the rigidity of social prejudices. Do we really all have to act the exact same way to find our true happiness?

What happens when we struggle to look past the differences that keep us apart? How can we find a lovely way to focus on what brings us together? Are our differences really a hurdle? Or could they be a beautiful way to learn from one another?

Wednesday, May 5 | Casino Urban Culture Center | Time: 7:00 PM

re.stele (re.stars)

interactive installation

Concept: Delia Gavlițchi & Florin Suciu

Music: Max Anchidin

"Good" and "bad," "right" or "wrong" are just incomplete stories we tell ourselves, and sometimes strict rules and preconceptions can lead to a bit of friction.

But then again, are conflicts themselves purely good or bad? Hmm, hard to say!

"PERSPECTIVES" is the magic word we chose to creatively reinvent the show "About Stars."

Right or wrong? Hmm, a wonderful puzzle to solve together!

Thursday, May 6 | 10×10 Installation, Eroilor Blvd. | Time: 7:00 PM

re.miracolul (re.the miracle)

exhibition

Drawings: Lucia Mărneanu

Texts: Lucia Mărneanu and Petro Ionescu

The fascinating chronicle of a "miracle" or the history behind Romania's grandest illusion.

The Caritas phenomenon of the '90s was a huge event that took Cluj and the entire country by storm during the transition years, beautifully documented in Reactor's theatre production "The Miracle in Cluj". Several illustrations in this exhibition were originally created for the stage, but now we are thrilled to present this visual component as a standalone experience in the public space, adapted for our safety. This exhibition serves as a playful stroll down memory lane, offering not just historical facts, but a unique, satirical, and highly creative artistic lens through the witty drawings of artist Lucia Mărneanu. Looking back with a touch of humor, the exhibition is wonderfully critical, satirical, and full of play!

Friday, May 7 | Iulius Mall | Time: 5:00 PM

re.baladele (re.the ballads)

audio installation

Concept: Raul Coldea, Oana Hodade, Doru Taloș

This heartwarming installation invites the busy residents of Cluj—who so often pass right by each other—to pause and connect. It's a sweet invitation to reflect on the stories of our parents and grandparents, and see how beautifully their lives are woven into our own. Let's start a much-needed, warm conversation in a world that often pulls us apart!

Saturday, May 8 | Cinema Arta | Time: 7:00 PM

re.rândul3 (re.row3)

video installation

Concept and Direction: Alexa Băcanu and Doru Vatavului

Cinematography and Editing: Mihai Stanciu

Cinematography: Alex Costea

Featuring: Adonis Tanța, Lucian Teodor Rus, Oana Mardare, Doru Taloș, Daniel Tanța, Cosmin Stănilă (voice)

Special Thanks: Gödri Attila, Monica Sebestyen, Gábor Zsófi

We begin with the poetic idea that spaces hold memories, that everyone who passes through leaves a gentle trace of their existence behind. Spaces never forget, not even those where we go to lose ourselves (or to find ourselves, which is delightfully the same thing!). A cinema is bursting with stories, and not all of them are projected on the silver screen. A cinema older than modern Romania itself can tell us—if we listen closely—a wonderfully nuanced story about who we are. Above all, a movie theater is a magical refuge. It’s where we tuck ourselves away from the busy world outside. As we sink into the plush seats, relaxing and letting our minds drift, we don't realize we leave a tiny spark of ourselves behind. Each of us is the protagonist of our own movie, searching the glowing screen for meaning, hope, and a good way to tell our story. What would the movies of those who sat here before us look like? What sweet comfort did they find? And what happy endings did they enjoy?

Sunday, May 9 | White Cuib | Time: 7:00 PM

re.plasticatta

object and media installation

Concept: Adonis Tanța

Texts: Petro Ionescu

Featuring: Oana Mardare, Paula Maria Seichei, Lucian Teodor Rus, and Adonis Tanța

Video: Daniel Răduțu

Scenography Elements: Denisa Berceanu

A playful exercise in overlapping two media! Experience a delightfully distorted way of seeing things in a creative space that dances right on the border between video and text.
