Our Stage Blog!

We were absolutely thrilled to host the wonderful Mirte Bogaert and Menzo Kircz, two fantastic artists based in the Netherlands and Norway, respectively! They reached out for a creative residency to bring the exciting 6th edition of their durational project, Other People, common ground, to our space as it travels joyfully through different cities.

‘Other People, common ground’ is a wonderful collaborative journey spanning 20 years (2019-2039), dreamed up by Mirte Bogaert and Menzo Kircz. Throughout this project, they love exploring the ideas of "work" and "practice" in the vibrant world of performing arts. They do this by teaming up with each other and fabulous guest artists for set periods, focusing beautifully on the creative journey itself rather than the pressure of putting on a traditional show!

The delightful sixth edition of this project took place right here at Reactor from January 23rd to February 3rd, ‘24. Collaborating with the amazing Ioana Hogman, Oana Hodade, and Selma Dragoș, the artists happily explored what a daily practice means in the performing arts. It was a wonderful exchange of perspectives and rich experiences from all kinds of creative backgrounds! The heart of the project was pure joy and process, celebrating what brings satisfaction without any pressure for a finished product. A lovely summary of this edition will soon be shared on Mirte & Menzo’s websites!

Special warm thanks to: Oana from Reactor for her precious time, space, and sweet organizing help; Selma for warmly hosting Oana H.; Aram for wonderfully stepping up to be the responsible adult at home until Selma got back; Selma's lovely dog, Moț, for graciously accepting shorter walks so Selma could create with us; Cătălin for being a great buddy to Menzo; Ioana’s wonderful mom and the supportive parents of her daughter's friends for helping with childcare while Ioana was working; Ioana’s sweet daughter for being so amazingly cooperative; and to all the lovely colleagues outside this project for their wonderful flexibility!

‘Other People, common ground’ is a 20 (2019-2039) year long collaborative project initiated by Mirte Bogaert en Menzo Kircz. During the timespan of this project, they aim to examine the ideas of ‘work’ and ‘practice’ as professionals in the performing arts field. They do this by working together and by working with others for set periods of time without ever focussing on making an actual performance, and figuring out what that means while doing it.
The sixth edition of the project took place at Reactor between the 23rd of January and the 3rd of February ‘24. In collaboration with Ioana Hogman, Oana Hodade & Selma Dragos, they took the time to explore what a daily practice might entail for someone working in the performing arts. Exchanging views and experiences gained from living and working in vastly different contexts. Focussing on the question of what gave them satisfaction and joy without worrying about a possible outcome. A summary of this edition will be published through the websites of Mirte & Menzo.
