Our Stage Blog!
This season, you can hop over to our Instagram profile to see how Reactor looks through the eyes of the wonderful people who bring this place to life!
April is shaping up to be quite a unique month, with our doors temporarily closed to the public. But don't worry, you can stay happily connected to Reactor through the eyes of Doru Taloș, who is happily (and by necessity!) "quarantined at the workplace." You probably already know Doru—he’s "that red-haired guy" who has an answer to absolutely every question about Reactor. And no wonder, since he's known this place since it was just a tiny spark of an idea! He’ll tell you all about how Reactor truly becomes "home," and he'll show you firsthand on Instagram with the hashtag #filtrudoru.
I always associate Reactor with a bustling, high-energy space—a place where people are constantly gathering and sharing energy.
Teams rehearsing in shifts, volunteers cheerfully tidying up the courtyard, colleagues heading off to or returning from exciting tours, people putting up or taking down stage sets until late into the night, guests staying in the downstairs room, eager theatergoers arriving an hour before the show starts, noisy and joyful kids every Saturday morning, friends staying late for a beer after a long day, colleagues building sets in the yard, spring barbecues filled with mushrooms and traditional sausages, and actors asking me to open the gates at 7 in the morning. It’s the place I’ve painted, repainted, and decorated dozens of times over the past few years!
We are currently in quarantine, cozy and isolated right here at our workplace. And we will keep on working! We can always find something creative to do to pass the time.
For two weeks now, it has been beautifully quiet. Adonis called us one evening saying he was at the gate and wanted to pop into the courtyard for a moment. We welcomed him in and chatted for about 10 minutes from a very safe distance—he felt just like a friendly neighbor coming over to borrow a pinch of salt!
For the very first time, I actually associate this wonderful place with "home." It's such a generous space, we have a lovely courtyard, and we feel absolutely privileged.
It’s also the first time I feel that this place no longer depends solely on me; whatever happens in the coming months, I know we have poured our hearts and souls into it. Beyond the gates, there are challenges threatening the stability of our space. But there isn't a single shred of fear here. Everything is going to be just fine! This month, I'll be sharing cheerful photos on Instagram. I just hope it’s a beautifully sunny month!
