#stripespotlight: Make it shine so bright they can see it from the sky!

This season, you can hop over to our Instagram profile and see what Reactor looks like through the eyes of the wonderful people who bring this place to life! In November, the lovely Lucia Mărneanu, aka Dunga, is taking over our account. Lucia has worked with us at Reactor as a set designer for the show The Window That Couldn't Sleep, as an actress in the plays 9 out of 10, The Miracle of Cluj (for which she also created the illustrations!), Detached, Body of Defiance, and Exeunt, and as a set designer for the show (IN)CORRECT. She is also the creative soul behind our painted walls, the gate, and everything else you see drawn and painted around Reactor! 🙂

Read on to discover the story behind the giant roof letters that can be seen from an airplane, and make sure to follow our Instagram profile and her delightful posts using the hashtag #filtrudunga.

About 3 years ago, Leta Popescu came up with the fabulous idea for me to climb onto the studio roof and paint R E A C T O R in big, bright yellow letters—so it could be seen from an airplane! And so I did. It was wonderfully naive and quite an adventure! Today, especially during these times we are living in, I wish crowds of airplanes would fly over Reactor, so that as many people as possible could see that right there in Cluj, there is a vibrant, little yellow theater working its heart out to thrive.

Fortunately, our beloved Reactor has had an Instagram account for a while now, and this could easily do the trick of a dozen airplanes! So that's exactly what I'm aiming for as I take over the account. To spread the word and cheer! To send out a lively pulse, as if saying "we are here, this is what we've done, and this is what we want to keep doing!": for a whole month, I will post a small, simple drawing summarizing a show from Reactor's repertoire. It's a sweet, cozy way to take a lighthearted, bird's-eye view of our shows from the last three years. A lovely little informal archive, like a warm pat on the back. Who knows, maybe we'll turn these drawings into a little magazine later, or at least some fun postcards. Happy flying and enjoy the view!
