Get ready for a vibrant community focus: COAGULĂRI COMUNITARE is coming to Reactor this June!
This June, Reactor is thrilled to host Community Cohesions Focus, a wonderful series of shows and lively discussions all about different communities, and the beautiful idea of community itself—what it means to belong today, our deep need for connection, how we can stand hand-in-hand, and how we can build safe, welcoming social spaces together!
Running through 2025-2026, the cheerful "Community Cohesions" cultural program aims to explore and strengthen our local bonds through creative, participatory, and cross-disciplinary ways, highlighting the magical impact art has on social harmony. This exciting project will actively invite you, our wonderful audience, to join in activities focusing on two lovely, complementary paths: community as our social support, and community as a spark for positive change!
Our very first Focus of the program kicks off this June, featuring two fabulous performances each of four fantastic plays, followed by heartwarming discussions about the unique communities they bring to life.
People and Weapons, written and directed by the brilliant David Schwartz, explores the lives of workers at the Cugir arms factory in a lively, artistic brigade style. It beautifully blends past and present, facts and imagination, personal memories, uplifting songs, poetry, and movement. Join us on June 5 and 6 at 8:00 PM!
Reactor's latest exciting production—Part 3. Solidarity, directed by Petro Ionescu and written by Selma Dragoș, Petro Ionescu, and Cosmin Stănilă—will be on stage on June 11 and 12 at 8:00 PM. This heartwarming show invites us to spend quality time together, cooking and sharing stories, in a cozy effort to understand and embrace solidarity in our wonderfully diverse world.
On June 17 and 18 at 8:00 PM, The Treasure City, directed by David Schwartz and written by Petro Ionescu, takes us on a fascinating journey through the Cluj community—meeting passionate activists, business minds, city leaders, and everyday residents. It's a captivating look at how we shape our city's future, the decisions that touch us all, and who wins in the exciting rush of urban development.
On June 23 and 24 at 8:00 PM, an absolute audience favorite returns to the Reactor stage! The Dream by Alexa Băcanu, directed by Dragoș Alexandru Mușoiu, is a brilliant musical theatre show that playfully examines the academic community, telling the story of an acting class and the dramatic moments that unfold when professional and personal boundaries start to blur.
We are also delighted to present Us and the City: Center and Periphery, an interactive performance where the Reactor stage transforms into a vibrant public forum, taking place on June 1 at 8:00 PM! Sparked by our curiosity about one another, you are warmly invited to practice closeness and mutual appreciation. For one hour, artists and theatregoers will together explore the big questions that unite us as neighbors in our wonderfully complex city of Cluj. Featuring the wonderful Ioana Hogman, Dragoș Alexandru Mușoiu, and Doru Taloș, coordinated by Raul Coldea.
Admission to all events is absolutely free, with a 0-value ticket available here: eventbook.ro/hall/reactor-cluj
While enjoying the Focus, our lovely guests can also admire the brand-new Reactor Garden, a beautiful green oasis created as part of the Community Cohesions program. With the enthusiastic help of our wonderful volunteer gardeners, artists Ioana Hogman and Mihai Păcurar have shown how even the smallest, hidden spaces can burst with life and color, proving the joys of a shared community garden in the heart of the city! You are warmly invited to the next gathering of the Reactor Gardeners on May 31 at 11:00 AM—a joyful get-together where we will chat about our garden's journey, share future dreams, read inspiring excerpts from books about plants and cozy coexistence, and sip fresh lemonade infused with mint from the garden (or lovage, parsley, basil, or lemon balm!). Please sign up using this form by May 30: https://forms.gle/oBCKDmQVD9zXEFMT9.
