This May, Reactor is coming closer to the hearts of Cluj! Reactor’s newest exciting production, Treasure City, directed by David Schwartz with dramaturgy by Petro Ionescu, is setting off on a wonderful mini-tour across Cluj-Napoca, from Iris all the way to Mănăștur!

A fabulous show that speaks first and foremost about Cluj and its wonderful residents is now closer than ever! We are bringing the magic right to your neighborhood and making it super easy to attend with free admission (just make sure to grab your €0 ticket)!

A lively, stand-up styled radiography of glamour, real estate speculation, and the hidden cost of progress, Treasure City digs beneath the five-star sparkle of Cluj to playfully ask: who’s footing the bill? With plenty of charming irony, the show explores how former industrial hubs are transformed into luxury quarters, how land is hunted down like gold, and how, behind the fancy "smart city" facade, our public spaces slip away.

In a city where square footage comes at the country's highest premium and developers seem to be the new world creators, where does the everyday resident fit in? "The magnet city," "the five-star city," "the smart city," "the treasure city"—these are just a few of the buzzwords used to praise Cluj, but also to spark lively conversations among those feeling the squeeze of the booming real estate market!

Balancing grand promises of progress with the reality of soaring prices, Treasure City takes you on an energetic, funny, and perhaps slightly nostalgic ride through the whirlwind of rapid urbanization!

The show is part of the wonderful project Treasure City – Performative Studies, which aims to explore the dynamic spirit of Cluj-Napoca. It looks at how our city has blossomed and transformed over time, tracing the exciting shifts in the housing market and their impact on residents from all walks of life.
