Students take the stage: an exciting artistic face-off in a theatrical marathon!

Over the course of 10 intense days of creative practice, 53 wonderful students from four universities, specializing in the performing arts, gathered in Cluj-Napoca to create and share with the audience the first thrilling 15 minutes of a theatrical show! This is all happening within the project UAT’s Next? II – Internships for Students in Cluj-Napoca and Târgu Mureș, co-funded by the European Union through the Education and Employment Program 2021-2027.

The journey culminates in a fantastic showcase mini-festival on February 17, 2026, at the Reactor Space, where these bright young artists have been working in multidisciplinary teams.

The University of Arts in Târgu Mureș, the Faculty of Theatre and Film from Babeș-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca, the Faculty of Letters – Department of Arts and Media from the University of Craiova, and the Faculty of Arts from the "Dunărea de Jos" University in Galați all encouraged their talented students to step into a real-world working environment, collaborate in 7 multidisciplinary teams, and proudly present their artistic creations to the lovely Cluj public!

Mrs. Oana Leahu, Associate Professor PhD at the University of Arts in Târgu Mureș, Dean of the Romanian Language Faculty, and the enthusiastic organizer of the showcase mini-festival, shared: “The UAT’s Next? II project is a wonderful platform for theatrical creation and research in the performing arts, but above all, it is a joyful space for collaboration among young artists, for discovery and teamwork, which in time can become the heart of new professional theatre companies.”

The first 15 minutes of the shows, presented by the 7 student teams, will be evaluated from an artistic perspective by a wonderful jury of 7 established artists:

CRISTIAN BOJAN – actor, director, PR – Faculty of Arts in Romanian, University of Arts in Târgu Mureș

PhD Candidate IOANA TOLOARGĂ – playwright, Faculty of Theatre and Film, Babeș-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca

ADONIS TANȚA – actor, director, and musician

SELMA DRAGOȘ – director and playwright

DOMINIK MARIO IABLONCIC – director, choreographer, dancer

CALIȚA NANTU – actress

The show opening that wins the most points will be awarded 15,000 lei—a fantastic prize that the winning team will use to fully produce their show!

The 7 student teams worked under the inspiring guidance of 7 practice tutors: Ovidiu Cioclov – playwright, Raul Coldea – director and playwright, Petro Ionescu – director and playwright, Alexandra Caras – actress, Dragoș Mușoiu – director, Mihai Păcurar – director and scenographer, and Tavi Voina – actor.

The project UAT’s Next? II – Internships for Students in Cluj-Napoca and Târgu Mureș, ID 312496 is implemented by ARTE 21 – World Stories Association in partnership with the Reactor Association of Creation and Experiment and the University of Arts in Târgu Mureș from Feb 2025 to Jan 2027, and is co-funded by the European Union through the Education and Employment Program 2021-2027.
