The 12th Radio România Cultural Awards Gala happily announced its winners on Monday, April 3, 2023, at the beautiful Odeon Theatre in Bucharest!

We are absolutely thrilled and honored to return home with the THEATRE category award, presented to the Reactor team for our wonderful show "The Dream" by Alexa Băcanu, directed by Dragoș Alexandru Mușoiu, as part of the "Safety Zone" project!

The award was proudly accepted by our dear colleague, Oana Mardare. Here is the heartwarming acceptance speech she shared on the historic Odeon Theatre stage:

"First and foremost, a huge thank you to the wonderful artists involved in producing 'The Dream' for their incredible generosity, without which such a project would have been impossible in the independent sector due to precarious funding. Many thanks to our partners and sponsors who supported the 'Safety Zone' project. We also thank the Faculty of Theatre and Film in Cluj for their solid partnership, even in delicate situations.

I am so delighted that we are receiving this award tonight here, inside a theatre building, because it feels like a beautiful echo that our show has created right within these very walls. I believe the strength of our show lies in the power of its echo, and the recognition and space provided by Radio România Cultural amplify this echo, so thank you so much, Radio România Cultural, for your support!

This is a play that shines a light on the theme of abuse in the artistic academic environment, opening up a vital conversation about abuse in the professional world. It’s a very live topic right now, and that is what matters most. We are finally at a point where we are asking questions about how we work, ethically speaking, in a field that has long tried to justify abuse under the guise of the 'craft' itself. I don't believe theatre requires abuse in any shape or form. Quite the opposite! This beautiful art of vulnerability and exposure demands protective frameworks, rules, and deep care. I am overjoyed that we are starting to claim this out loud.

To quote Alexa Băcanu, the play's wonderful author, who couldn't be here with us today: this far, and no further."
