In the Shadow of the Great Plan is a wonderfully subjective attempt to piece together the history of a massive social experiment whose effects we still feel today: the creation of the "new man" and the national myth of our very own homeland as a promised land. This captivating show takes the form of a family chronicle spanning three generations, beautifully tracing the social, political, and moral shifts in society alongside their heartwarming and heartbreaking effects on individual, intimate lives.
As a generation eagerly searching for our identity, we look to both the past and the future to shape our own attitude toward history. While we inherit a romanticized past and navigate a present at a crossroads, we invite you to join us as we playfully question our origins and dream up our future. With just the right touch of humor and cynicism, as fits a generation in transition, this is a delightfully bittersweet show with the magical feel of a fairy tale!
This wonderful show was produced as part of the project "100 Years of Romania. Secondary Histories," proudly co-funded by the Administration of the National Cultural Fund, the Cluj-Napoca City Hall and Local Council, and UNITER – the Romanian Theatre Union. We are absolutely delighted to present this performance as part of the exciting event series Focus: Gap. Intergenerational Narratives, funded by the Administration of the National Cultural Fund.
